Who qualifies for the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme?
The scheme is target-based and covers the following socio-economic categories:
📋 SECC 2011 Database Families
Families categorized as poor, deprived, or vulnerable under the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC 2011) database are automatically pre-eligible.
💳 BPL & Ration Card Holders
In most states, families listed under Below Poverty Line (BPL) registries or holding Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards are eligible to register.
🛠️ Construction & Labor Board Members
Registered construction workers, laborers, and building board members (BOCW) enjoy subsidized or free registration benefits in participating states.
👵 Senior Citizens (Aged 70+)
All senior citizens of India aged 70 years and above qualify unconditionally, regardless of income, under the newly launched Vay Vandana sub-scheme.

Can I make a new Ayushman Card in 2026?
Yes, if you are listed in the SECC 2011 database or meet state eligibility criteria, you can create a card. Seniors aged 70+ are eligible unconditionally.
Are government employees eligible for Ayushman Card?
No, regular central/state government employees and pensioners are generally not eligible for the PM-JAY scheme.
What if my name is not in the eligibility list?

Is the card only for SECC 2011 families?
No, state lists, BOCW construction workers, and other categories can also register. Senior citizens over 70 also get covered regardless of income.
How long is the special registration drive in UP?
The special registration drive in Uttar Pradesh is active from May 15 to August 14, 2026. You can visit local CSCs to get your card free during this period.
